2019 Lancaster Newsletter

What a wonderful year 2019 has been. It definitely came with exciting times, nerve racking adventures and many memories that we hold close to our hearts as we look back on these past 12 months. We wish to share with you a few highlights of what we have been up to this year.

DAN:  We truly are all just happier when Dan/Daddy is around. He always seems to keep us steady and reassured in all things and we are so grateful for his positive outlook. Big things happened for Dan this year as he finally became an American Citizen!! He figured after 15 years it’s probably time. It was a really amazing ceremony and he was excited to vote in his first U.S. election. Dan hit his eighth year at Pioneer Natural Resources and continues to rock at it. And yes, him and his co-workers are still going strong with the Blizzard of the month! Dan has become quite the crafts man and has taken it upon himself to build all the things. He stays busy in his wood working shop that he has created in our garage and seems to build anything and everything. He enjoys the challenge and is progressing quickly in his skill. He is killing it at fatherhood and we all know this because we hear chants of “Daddy’s the best” on a regular basis. It’s no surprise, we truly all think Dan is the best. He is still teaching in primary and seems to in a comfortable spot there with his CTR 7 class. They think he is hilarious! But really no matter what, he always puts our family first and we love him dearly.

LESLI: When it comes to the crazy you can always depend on Lesli. With an upbeat nature about her, she continues to find the fun in the day to day life of motherhood and running a household. She is keeping everyone alive and learning quickly what it feels like to be a chauffeur with running her kids all over the place with extra curricular activities. She is still basically living on her yoga mat and teaches yoga a few days a week. Late this year Lesli was released as the 1st counselor in the Young Women’s Program and now is Primary Chorister. She is loving being with the primary children again and being able to be with her kiddos. It also has brought back the love of music for her. She is always go go go and we love how she keeps us laughing on a daily basis with her passion for life.

JUNE: Our little June turned the big eight this year and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is our sweet spirit but still seems to add a little sass every once in a while, including the famous eye roll to her mother.  She is obsessed with reading and we can’t keep books in the house quick enough for her to read. We love her willingness to try new things and taking the lead with her younger siblings. June started the 2nd Grade this year and is doing amazingly well. We love her passion for learning and her eagerness to grow her education. She has brought more music into our home with the start of piano lessons this year and she is catching on quickly. She loves plunking songs on the piano and making up songs to sing too. There is always a song that that girl has in her head. June is also dancing ballet and will be performing in The Nutcracker late this December. She can’t wait! Neither can we! We are so grateful for June, her kind heart and her willingness to be a friend to all. She definitely brings a special spirit into our home.
OWEN: This little dude has been rocking it this year! He turned six this past October and has had quite a year with a new school, and a new adventure in sports. He started Kindergarten and has loved every minute of it. He is always eager to go and play with his friends. He’s a non stop chatter box when it comes to his little buddies and we love hearing all their adventures together. Owen finished up another season of soccer this past fall and then started playing basketball for the first time, which he seems to really be enjoying. We are just grateful for an indoor sport with this crazy Texas weather! The kid is a natural artist and is obsessed with coloring, drawing and anything with art. His hands seem to always have marker on them. We love getting his notes and seeing him grow in his reading and writing. Our dude is always running around with friends, playing Nintendo Switch or driving his little sister (and his mother) to insanity with his shenanigans. But his sweet hugs and kind words always make up for it! He has his mother wrapped around his finger with that dimple smile. Gosh we love this little man and all the adventures and ideas that he contributes to our family.

KATE: The true ruler of the house. As the youngest in the family she runs this house and pretty much gets away with all the things. Her out going personality makes our hearts sore with laughter and awkward moments as she tends to just say whatever is on her mind. Sweet and sassy little Kate turned three in January and it has been a ride as she is learning and pushing past the limits. She started another year of preschool and hasn’t skipped a beat with making new little friends and keeping her teachers on their toes. If she isn’t at school she is usually ruling the household with her little besties and demanding Pirate Booty. She started her very first dance class with tap and ballet and loves being in tights and black leotard. We can’t wait to see her this spring in her recital. Kate has a lot of spunk but her contagious laugh and her crazy ideas make the everyday life extraordinary. No one can crush her spirit and we just all hope we can hold on for the ride. She definitely brings life to the house and we love her for it.

RANGER: The pup is still going strong as we celebrated his 9th year this past January. He is still finding ways to escape and roaming the neighborhood. He also is the best little snuggle buddy and always gets excited to get in the car to take the kids to school. He is just like one of the kids and we love him dearly.

OUR FAMILY IN GENERAL: This year has been full of ups and downs but we have always stuck by each other and had all the fun we could have. We played hard at Hawaiian Falls this summer and introduced the kids to the awesome world of Six Flags. We traveled to Idaho and Canada, and spent a week in Destin with our dear friends. We hit 10 years living in Texas and have decided to officially call ourselves Texans. We are incredibly grateful for the blessings that we have in our life and this has been a year of learning to not take anything for granted. Our 2019 was definitely one for the books.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Years. And we thank you for being apart of our lives!

Love,

The Lancaster Family
