We had a wonderful and special Easter this year with it being on General Conference!
But our Easter celebration started the week before.
Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt up by our pool area and it was so much fun. They had face paintings, cake walks and egg hunts for all the kids ages. Just another reason to love our community.
Kate had her egg hunt first. She wanted to grab the egg, open it, eat what was inside and then go to the next. We helped her out a bit on that one.
Owen's age group was next. He loved it and scored big time!
He's such a handsome little boy! I heart him dearly.
It was then June bugs turn. She also took part in the face painting!
June played in the cake walk and won! She was so excited.
After the egg hunt and fun with our neighbors we decided to go the park. The day was so beautiful and we played until the sun went down. It was a lot of fun.
Later that week we had an Easter hunt with friends which I didn't get any pictures! My bad! And then of course we dyed Easter eggs.
We just let Kate go at it. She is just too much sometimes.
Kate got very excited when we went to turn the TV on. She thought we were watching cartoons but we were turning on General Conference. She was not so happy about it!
General Conference was wonderful this year. I felt so many of the talks were focused on peace and love. I loved it all. I loved that we were able to sustain our new Prophet. President Russell M. Nelson. His expression of love and gratitude was overwhelming and incredible to see. What a wonderful man to lead us.
Easter morning the kids waited by the stairs and then were off to go find their Easter baskets
All was found! The Easter bunny loves leaving surprises for them!
With it being Conference a lot of their basket were activities for them to do. One was painting little canvases. It kept them quiet for quite some time.
During nap time, June came to Dan and I so quietly and told us that she is confused about the Easter bunny and that she doesn't think that he is real. My heart sank. I know. Its so dumb but she is only six and I felt so sad to have her lose a part of that magic. But we had a great conversation with her about it. She took it really well, though she said "yeah I don't think he's real. I mean I know Santa is and the tooth fairy, but the bunny just doesn't make sense!!" HAHAHA!!! I love her so much and I'm selfishly so happy she still believes in Santa!
We played outside for the rest of the afternoon! Kate got a bubble machine in her Easter basket and she just kept having them pop in her face. She loved it! Ha
Easter Sunday was also April Fools day. We tried to play a trick on Dan. I had June pretend that she ran into Dan's new truck and left a huge scratch on it. He obviously knew it was fake but he was a good sport and June thought it was so funny!
That night we told the kids we would have party mix and brownies for our Sunday treat. So we literally took them "PARTY MIX" and Brown E's!! We also made Jello in glasses to look like juice! Bahahaha we thought we were so funny, but turns out the kids were not too pleased with us. We still laughed though! Ha! We of course had the real stuff too.
So that was our Easter. It was simple and great and with how busy we have been lately it was nice to just have a weekend home all together. There is no place I would rather be than home with my family around me. It makes my soul happy.
