Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break was a warm welcome at our house. Having a child in school all day has it's perks but in all honesty I would rather have her home. So I took Thanksgiving break and tried to enjoy every minute of it while everyone was home together.

June and Owen had the whole week off from school, so we played at parks, played at home and truly did nothing. It was delightful. We needed the nothingness for a couple of days.

Dan got home around noon on Wednesday and we played with Daddy and then we went and had dinner at McDonalds since the next day we would be cooking all day.

This man. I heart him to no end.

Dan is a baking machine and pretty much has taken over in the kitchen. I love it! I'm not the biggest fan of cooking and have absolutely no desire to be that domestic of a wife, but Dan loves it so more power to him and I get the benefits of eating it! Haha So really he made most of our Thanksgiving dinner. Including these gorgeous rolls!

Thursday morning we woke up, turned the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on by tradition, and got busy in the kitchen. With lots of help!

Dan also made homemade peanut butter balls and homemade peppermint paddies.

Yes, Dan also get's credit for the tarts and pies.

Table set for our little family of five!

Our turkey cooked beautifully and was so good!

Ready to dig in!

A day full of cooking and then food is gone in 10 minutes. Haha it was all so good and we were pleased with how our meal turned out.

Kate was asleep when we had actual Thanksgiving dinner so she ate later that day. June was helping her by giving her giant spoonfuls of whipping cream.

They weren't too happy when I cut them off!

Naps are always a must on Thanksgiving after a full cooked meal and full tummies. I was just happy I got to nap next to the best snuggler around!

Once we all were awake and ready to get on with the evening, we loaded up and went for a walk around our neighborhood.

The next day we were pretty anxious to get Christmas going, so we went and got our tree first thing.

I had quite the time convincing Dan to get a 12ft' tree this year instead of our usual 6ft. I told him we needed the height. Our ceilings are really tall and when I finally wore him down we needed up with a 12ft. Tree. :)

We got the tree inside, let it rest and we spent the majority of the day outside. We have been having the warmest weather for the month and it's been great and all but we are ready for those chilly temps to come around.

The sky was so pink that day. It was pretty.

The kids kept bugging us over and over again to get the tree decorated and finally the next morning we let that happen.

We pulled out all our Christmas decorations and it felt like we were moving all over again! I forget how much we have for Christmas. The best is our little nativity. It makes the kids so happy and makes my heart happy.

Of course Kate is obsessed with the tree ornaments! We already have had a few broken ones.

So now that we got our tree in and set up we are so happy we went with a taller tree. A smaller one would have looked off with the height. It all worked out in the end! Dan even mentioned going taller next year! WHAT?!

Hanging the star on the tree

Trips to Walmart for more Christmas Garland!

We honestly didn't even know if we would have lights on our house. It's tall and getting lights up seemed pretty impossible, but we ended up hiring someone to come do it for us and it turned out perfectly! Exactly how I had pictured it!!

Thanksgiving is all wrapped up and we are in full blown Christmas over here. I love it! This time of year and all it's magic.
