Hiking

It's time to calm down a bit, cross things off our summer bucket list and take full advantage of this warm weather! I can already tell it's going to be an awesome season of living in swim suits and being with my little family!

This past weekend we had a full weekend all to ourselves. It has been a LONG time since we have had no real solid plans. Where we can wake up when we feel like it and play the day by ear. It felt really nice. Though it doesn't last long since we have plans next weekend, and then Dan leaves for North Carolina for a solid 7 days... I will take the calmness when I can and this weekend it happened.

We decided to got up to one of Dallas' state parks. Cedar Ridge, and it was beautiful! It's only about a half hour from the city and once you get on the trails you seriously don't feel like you are in a big city AT ALL. It was even a good hike. Most of the trail was up hill, but it felt good to get out and enjoy a little nature scene. I miss hiking and being in the mountains a lot this time of year, so it was fun to get a little taste of it.

We hooked OD in the backpack

And June walked. We are in a "I really hate shoes" phase, and only those blue and pink stripe flip flops will do. So she climbed the hill side in flip flops. She is also very particular about not getting things in her shoes and keeping them clean... We had to stop many many many times to clean her shoes.

She did really well though for hiking in flip flops

We saw a lot of cool looking bugs

The flip flops weren't cutting it at one point so June got to be carried. Dan seemed to not mind. For the record I did offer to take on of the children... He kept telling me he's great!

The hike wasn't too long, but it was all up hill. June seriously did so good for walking as long as she did.

We made it to the top, and had a great look out over the city and the Lake. It was really pretty. We made a little rest for a bit so I could feed Owen and let June explore for a bit.

She even got to snap a few pictures

It was so green and so beautiful! Texas really is beautiful if you just know where to look!

On the way back down the hill, I took a turn with OD. He wasn't enjoying being on my back too much, so we flipped him and he was loving the front view

June getting mad at our picture taking and really wanting to get walking

Selfie on the way down... I probably should have been paying attention to my footing

June finally gave up and Dan held her. Dan was in heaven showing June all the fun things of nature.

We made a stop to drink some water and chit chat for a bit.
It really was fun to get out and go exploring. The weather was actually really pleasant and we were covered mostly by trees, so it was perfect for hiking that day. I really love summer and all the fun that it brings! Can't wait for more!
