Swimming!

June has never been confident in the water. It's pretty funny that our children don't really like the water and we have a swimming pool in our backyard. Haha

June bug would never get into the water without her floaties let alone dare put her face into the water. Any drop of water that touched her face she would freak out and get out of the pool to wipe her face off.
When we told her that we had put her into swim lessons this year she got all sad and started crying. Last year swim lessons did not go well and she basically hated every minute of it. I told her that these were different swim lessons and that she can totally do it! I may have even bribed her with ice-cream.
The poor girl was so worried about it for about a week. We knew she was thinking about it constantly because she would randomly ask us about swim lessons, if they were going to make her put her face in the water and would ask us what else they were going to make her do. It broke my heart.

The day of swim lessons she was a nervous wreck. When I first dropped her off she started crying. I told her to be brave and if she stayed strong we would go get lunch after. Her choice. I left her and shed a tear in the car. We are tender hearted people over here.

The first day went well. She was actually in the water and not crying. Progress.
The second and third day went great! Her face was actually in the water and she was doing great with all smiles! Total progress!

The last day she still wasn't confident but was progressively getting better. Then Friday afternoon we got into the pool and all of the sudden she just put her head under the water and started swimming!!! Her swim teacher said that one day it would just click and it totally did!!!

Swimming with her has been awesome ever since! She is jumping off the diving board and simply cannot get enough of swimming! It's so much fun swimming with her now!

The second week of swim lessons went so so great. She can now dive down for toys, and she is getting so much better at her strides and holding her breath. It is so much fun watching her!

We were sad to have to cut swim lessons a couple days short because of our trip, but her swim teacher sent us an email full of tips and stuff to work on through the rest of the summer. Her teacher was amazing! We owe it all to her that June now feels so comfortable in the water. We can't wait for next year and to also start Owen too!
