Dave & Vanessa Visit Texas

Dave and Vanessa planned a trip to Texas and it was so much fun having them here! We loved having them see the new house and have time for the kids to play together.

They came in Wednesday afternoon and we spent the day getting settled, letting the kids play and catching up. Dan got home from work and I had mutual and a meeting so I was out for the night. But the gang chilled in Dan's room and listened to music.

Thursday Dan and Dave both had to work so Vanessa and I took the kids to a fun kids center in South Lake. We met up with a mutual friend and played there all morning long.

This kid could pretend to fish all day. We got him a sweet finishing game for his birthday.

Busy little builders

We enjoyed Chick Fil A and let the kids play for the rest of the day. We got June from school and hung out.

Thursday night I started feeling a little sick but I figured I was just catching a little cold.

Friday morning I woke up feeling pretty awful but Dan told me to just get up and moving and that I would feel better. We had to be at June's school that morning so I sort of just pushed through the morning.

After we took the kids to Owen's favorite candy store and then got ready for Owen's birthday party later that day.

Before Owen's birthday I was feeling worse than I had. I couldn't get warm and I felt my body slowly shutting down. I sat outside and just tried to get warm. I told Dan that I really didn't think I could make it to Owen's party. I truly felt so so horrible. But Dan was right when he said I wouldn't want to miss his birthday party.

At Owen's party I was hanging on for dear life. I would sneak away and go lay down in the car for a bit just to regain my strength. It was awful. My sweet sweet sister in law pretty much took care of everything! We drove home from Owen's party and I just collapsed on the bed. The next 24 hours were truly a blur. I have never in my life had the flu so bad. I can't even explain it. Dan and Dave gave me a blessing and then I slept and moaned the night through.

Saturday I woke up feeling a smudge better but not feeling all that great. So everyone went to the zoo and I stayed home and pretty much slept the day away. But it sounded like the kids had a fun day at the zoo.
Owen did have a good time. :)

Saturday night I was feeling so much better. Still a bit shaky and tired but we had a babysitter planned for that night so I took a lot of medicine. A LOT OF MEDICINE!! and then we headed out for a fun night with just adults.

Of Course a fort was built. Owen freaking loves forts! And with Ellie there it was all that much better.

We took Dave and Vanessa to Hard 8 to get the meat sweats and some true Texas BBQ1

We then went and did an escape room. IT WAS  A BLAST!!! We loved it so much that after the first round (Which we totally escaped) We did another round and ended up getting these t-shirts for free. It was so much fun, Though by the second round towards the end, I was starting to feel pretty awful again. Truly such a fun night!

Sunday I had to be at yoga training and it looked like Kate ended up getting what I got. Dear sweet Vanessa took care of everything! She became Kate's mom, stayed home from church and snuggled her all day. I can't thank her enough for all she did for me that weekend!

Tackle session with Uncle Dave!

Monday we got up and took everyone to the Perot Museum.

Monday night after the museum Vanessa and I went shopping while the boys took the kids. I love shopping with Vanessa. We seriously have so much in common and I love spending time with just her. So lucky to have her and that we married brothers! We then had N' and Out for dinner and then watched a movie.

Kiddos in their cute matching pajamas!

Tuesday Dan went back to work and I took Dave and Vanessa to the airport.

We had such a great visit with them. I'm sad I got so incredibly sick but honestly I was so happy to have Vanessa and Dave here to help with everything. Obviously Dan was amazing but it definitely helped having an extra pair of hands around to help.

Thanks for coming to see us Edmonton Lancasters!!
