His Birthday

This love of mine has turned 31! He's the coolest, I love him with all my might and I hope he never realizes how he could do so much better than the crazy me... He's truly one genuine guy and actually means what he says. He cares. He cares deeply and has so much love for the kids and I that I sometimes don't feel worthy of his affection. He's just good.

So I told Dan that no matter how old we get, I hope we never say "Oh my birthday?! Oh it's just another day... don't worry about it." I guess maybe for selfish reasons that I never want my birthday to be just an ordinary day, and I LOVE making my people happy on their birthdays and making sure they feel extra extra special and loved.

I have been planing Dan's birthday for a while now, not because we had some big extraordinary plans or anything, but honestly Dan and I have been so incredibly busy. Like we haven't been home together a single night this week except for his birthday. Life has been non stop for us and it's not slowing down anytime soon.

I had plans to surprise Dan at work with a bunch of cupcakes for his co-workers and balloons and candy for Dan. Then take him out for lunch and have him come home with us for the rest of the day.  Dan works in a high security building, so I am not allowed to just walk into his office. I have to be escorted in by an employee. But I had it all planned out with friends of Dans at work to come get me, sign me in and take me to his office. June was excited and we were all ready to go.

Then I get a text from Dan...

Hey babe, this just happened. I'm going to be a bit late...

Some idiot was on his phone and smacked right into the back of Dan!! So he ended up having to take his car to the dealership the next morning (His Birthday) to drop it off... Which meant no surprise at his office. I was super bummed and June was too. We love visiting Daddy at work. It worked out though because Dan got to come home even earlier than he would on a normal Friday.

And we greeted daddy with a proper Happy Birthday! June wanted it to be a surprise party. So we decorated the house and had party hats ready for when daddy walked into the door. The kids were bursting with excitement!

Owen kept getting upset because Dan wouldn't put his hat on!

Dan had no time to even blink. June was so excited to bring him into the living room and open his presents. We planned to do that a little later in the afternoon, but I don't think June would have made it through quiet time without opening gifts.

So Dan opened his birthday gifts.

With the help of June of course. Owen was already bored and off in the play room.

After presents we all went and had lunch. The kids played, Dan and I were actually able to have a conversation and we enjoyed the afternoon. Once we got home Owen went down for a nap and June had quiet time. Though it was more of her coming out every 10 minutes asking if it was time for birthday cake yet!

Dan enjoying the sun, and talking on the phone. Getting wished a Happy Birthday by his mom I think... (Hi Brenda!)

Once Owen woke up we sang to Dan and had birthday cake. This year we had a Dairy Queen Ice-cream recess peanut butter cup cake. Dan's favorite and mine too because I don't actually have to make a cake.

I seriously love this picture. I don't know if it was just taken at the right moment, but with Dans excited arms in the air all happy... It just really makes me smile.

I wanted a picture with the kids and daddy on his birthday... It took a while because they could not keep their eyes off that cake. Finally they were allowed to dig in!

By the time we finished eating cake and cleaning up it was time to get ready for our night out and the kids fed before the babysitter came over.

We said our goodbyes to the kids and we headed to a Texas Rangers baseball game. We hadn't been to one yet this season and Dan thought it would be fun for his birthday. It was SO NICE without kids. We didn't have to get up and walk around, we could both go get food together and we didn't have to handle tired kids! It was so relaxing and just a fun night with my birthday boy!

It was a pretty low key birthday this year, but I think Dan still had a good one!! Loves to you babe!
