I am loving these summer days. It's nice just being home and doing our day to day. It's been a fun couple of weeks and we are trying to soak in as much summer as we can before more travels and school starts.
As you all know my parents have started their 3 year mission as Mission Presidents and we are very excited for them. We started our countdown and we are excited to watch the kids grow as the months pass by.
Owen is getting more coordinated and just less like a baby. It's so crazy how just in a couple of days they can pick something up so quickly. These past few weeks OD has made some big achievements and I sure have loved watching him learn new things.
June was telling me to stop being so silly. I love Costco carts just because both my babes can fit in the front with me. I feel every grocery store should have these as an option.
During the summer a church puts on a little day camp each week. It's really fun to go and play at their massive playground in the first place, but they have little swimming pools set up, chalk, toys... the whole 9 nine yards. It's really fun.
Lunch is served daily outside. June tells me everyday that she can eat outside because it's not raining. But even on rainy days we are still eating outside. She loves it, and I love how much she enjoys the outdoors.
In Target one day, June discovered that she can ride in the cart while standing up. She loves it, and very well behaved. She isn't trying to climb out or be obnoxious, she just wants to act like she's on a ride. She told me "Faster mommy, we're on a voyage" Where she learned the word voyage is beyond me, but her vocabulary impresses me more and more every day.
Owit just spending some quality time with daddy
and zoning out on the floor at the play place
And continuing to be the most handsome little boy of all time.
One day we made pretend sand "Flour and oil". June loved it and kept her busy forever! It was a bit messy but we were outside and easy to hose off the cement. It really was just like sand! Really fun to play in and safe to eat... Not that June ever eats sand, but just in case.
We made another trip down to the Perot Museum with a friend and played there for a while. June mostly stays at the arts and crafts section for the majority of the time. She really likes making things, cutting, gluing... all that fun stuff, so I say go for it!
We get a season pass at this museum every year. Last year we got a tote bag and this year we got dinosaur hats. June loves it and still wears it all over the house.
OD taking a swim in the big pool. Poor little fella usually only gets to splash in the small pool or play in the pack n' play but when daddy's home we all get to play in the big pool. Owen Loves it!
June really wanted to go to the park one afternoon, and usually we try to find something inside or water based during the afternoon heat... parks are just too hot. She really wanted to go though, so we got all packed up, snacks, water, sunscreen all that good stuff and got to the park. She went down one slide and then wanted to color. I always carry crayons and paper in my purse for such occasions but I never thought we would go to the park to just color... haha silly girl. In the shade it wasn't too hot and Owen was enjoying chasing a cup around, so we colored at the park for a while.
She has really taken a liking to our bed lately. She plays with her i-pad on the bed, or any movie is much more comfy on the bed, and now toys too. She just loves being up there. I think it's because she knows baby Owit can't get up there and steal her toys.
Owen discovered the awesomeness of the straw this past week. He is one step closer to getting off a bottle. I don't know why but I just really like my kids to be off the bottle and pacifier by the time they are one. We don't have to worry about pacifiers since Owen never took one, and seeing how well he does with a zippy cup, hopefully dropping the bottle won't be too hard either!
He's just being so big! Eating so many different solids, and actually starting to eat food... not just pureed food either! It's fantastic and I am so excited to be able to make the same lunch for the both of them!
June loves to sit in baskets... toys or laundry, doesn't matter. Then she thinks its funny to yell help and have me get her out... Then she yells "Run for your life"
OD is getting stronger and stronger, learning more about the muscles in his legs and what he can do with them. It's such a fun age to watch them learn and explore the things around them and their own bodies. I love it!!
Bath time is definitely becoming more fun, now that the two of them can play together. June loves washing OD's hair, which can get out of control sometimes, but he takes it pretty good, and they play together surprisingly well. June is pretty quick to give baby Owen a new toy if she want's what he has. She does an ol' swap o' roo with him. He doesn't seem to mind so I don't interfere.
So things are going pretty good. We are excited for more summer play time and more adventures that await!
